Estimations of the Molecular Weight of the Influenza Virus Genome

J. J. Skehel

National Institute for Medical Research, Mill Hill, London N.W.7

The molecular weight of the influenza virus genome was estimated by sucrose density-gradient centrifugation, analytical centrifugation and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The results indicated that the virus contained at least six species of RNA of total molecular weight approximately 3.9 x 106.

Received 15 October 1970; accepted 15 January 1971.
