Etude des Fonctions du Virus de la Stomatite Vésiculaire Altérées par une Mutation Thermosensible: Mise en Evidence de la Protéine Structurale Affectée par la Mutation ts 23

Florence Lafay

Institut de Microbiologie et Laboratoire de Biologie Experimentale, Faculté des Sciences, 91-Orsay, France

Structural proteins extracted from a temperature-sensitive mutant of vesicular stomatitis virus were analysed by electrophoresis on polyacrylamide gel. The mutant strain, ts 23, was RNA+. In a double labelling experiment made under temperature shift conditions the smaller of the two membrane proteins of the virus was identified as a modified component of ts 23; compared with control values only this protein showed a reduced incorporation of radioactivity at the non-permissive temperature.

Received 26 February 1971; accepted 27 July 1971.
