Monospecific Antibody to the Haemagglutinin of Measles Virus

D. E. McFarlin, W. J. Bellini, E. S. Mingioli, T. N. Behar and A. Trudgett

Neuroimmunology Branch National Institute of Neurological and Communicative Disorders and Stroke National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Md. 20205, U.S.A.

A hybrid between a murine myeloma cell line and spleen cells from a mouse immunized with measles has been produced. Two stable clones produce antibody with identical immunochemical and biological properties. This antibody reacts with the 76000 mol. wt. protein present in the lysates and on the surface of cells persistently infected with measles. It exhibits HAI and neutralizing activity.

Received 20 September 1979; accepted 7 January 1980.
