Erratum

Distinctive pattern of sequence polymorphism in the NS3 protein of hepatitis C virus type 1b reflects conflicting evolutionary pressures, by S. J. Irausquin and A. L. Hughes

Journal of General Virology vol. 89, part 8, pp. 1921 - 1929

Please note that there are errors in the legends of Fig. 3 and Fig. 4 of the published version of this paper. The corrected Fig. 3 and Fig. 4 legends are shown below.

Fig. 3. Median gene diversity at polymorphic non-synonymous sites in non-epitope (NonEp) and in CD4-epitope and CTL-epitope regions of (a) NS3 and (b) the remaining nine proteins. Numbers of sites in each category are shown. In the case of NS3, median gene diversity differed significantly among categories of sites (Kruskal–Wallis test, P<0.001). Mann–Whitney tests of the hypothesis that median gene diversity in a given category for NS3 equals the corresponding value for the other proteins: *, P<,0.05; **, P<0.01.

Fig. 4. Median CI at polymorphic non-synonymous non-singleton sites in epitope (Ep) and non-epitope (NonEp) regions of and in CD4-epitope and CTL-epitope regions of (a) NS3 and (b) the remaining nine proteins. In the case of NS3, median CI differed significantly among categories of sites (Kruskal–Wallis test, P<0.001). Mann–Whitney tests of the hypothesis that median gene diversity in a given category for NS3 equals the corresponding value for the other proteins: **, P<0.01.
