Front cover illustration: Dissected anterior midgut from Culex nigripalpus
nucleopolyhedrovirus-infected (CuniNPV) third instar larvae
demonstrating the gross morphology of the gastric caeca infected with CuniNPV.
Each refractive sphere is a hypertrophied nucleus containing occlusion bodies
of CuniNPV. Infections of CuniNPV were primarily restricted to the proximal
cells of the gastric caeca while cells in the distal portions are uninfected.
