Front cover illustration
Walleye dermal sarcoma virus (WDSV) is associated with tumours that develop and regress seasonally in walleye (Stizostedion vitreum). The transcript of orf C is abundant in egressing tumour cells but is not present in developing tumour cells. The front cover image shows cells transfected with a WDSV Orf C expression vector, as indicated by fluorescent antibody-labelling of Orf C protein (green). Nuclei are stained with DAPI (blue). Cells are also stained with MitoTracker Orange (red), which accumulates in active mitochondria only. No MitoTracker dye is detected in cells expressing Orf C, showing that mitochondrial membrane potential has been affected by Orf C. See the article by W. A. Nudson and others on pages 375-381 of this issue.
