Immunofluorescence-stained bovine cells infected with isolate D32/00 'HoBi', the putative member of a novel pestivirus species. Virus-positive cells were detected with a monoclonal antibody specific for the NS3 protein of pestiviruses (green fluorescence). Cell nuclei were stained using propidium iodide (red fluorescence). Image supplied by Horst Schirrmeier, Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut, Insel Riems, Germany. See the paper by Schirrmeier et al. in the December 2004 issue, pp. 3647-3652.
