The electron density map of IBDV-like particles is calculated from electron micrographs using development based on symmetry-adapted function (upper model). Fitting of the atomic model determined by X-ray crystallography (middle model) into the electron microscopy map gives rise to an atomic model of the IBDV-like particle (lower model).
